Yahoo Japan Will Partner With Google

Earlier this year, Yahoo Inc decided to team up with Microsoft to save jobs and the company itself. This is the reason why Bing and Yahoo will soon have similar results with both companies working together to create a better search engine. For people with websites, getting good rankings on Yahoo and Bing therefore is a good goal to achieve since if you get good Bing rankings, you would by default have good Yahoo rankings as well.

The tie-up between Yahoo Inc and Microsoft though did not convince Yahoo Japan to use the search technology developed by Microsoft. In fact, it was reported recently that Yahoo Japan will be using Google’s search technology. This would definitely boost Yahoo Japan’s standing on top of the country’s search engine mountain.

Yahoo Japan can do this since Yahoo Inc only owns about a third of the company and is not the biggest shareholder. This partnership between Yahoo Japan and Google means the Japanese portal would be serving search-based advertisement with the help of Google technologies. Furthermore, they would be feeding their data to Google and not Yahoo Inc or Microsoft.

This deal strengthens Google even more especially since Yahoo Japan is primarily serving the second biggest economy in the world where the internet is a big thing. On the other side, Microsoft has expressed their displeasure of the deal. The company though did not say whether they would contest the deal by taking to the courts.

For Japanese webmasters, this shift in the technology being used by Yahoo Japan means their work will be made easier. Since Google is very popular and is the foremost search engine being targeted with SEO campaigns, they no longer have to spend a lot of time setting up a different campaign to improve their position on Yahoo and Bing rankings.

Experts are saying that this deal could lead to more portals going with Google especially after Japan has approved the deal. According to the decision, the deal does not violate any antitrust regulations in place in Japan. The deal also is already proving to be a good one for Yahoo Japan as its share is expected to rise when the trading market opens.
